Turmeric has been used as both a spice in and for thousands of years. The yellow root spice has been the topic of controversial research for decades. Now, a recent study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences shows curcumin, an active ingredient in turmeric, is effective in killing cancer cells.
